Ethos and Christian Values at Staplegrove

At Staplegrove Church School, our Christian Values are at the heart of our school community. Our core Values of; Respect, Courage, Perseverance, Thankfulness, Truthfulness and Friendship, are integral to our school’s identity and each value, helps to guide us each day to be the best that we can be.

'That they may have life, life in all its fullness'  John 10:10

Building on our School’s Christian Foundation, we recognise that the children are our future – what they experience here today they take into tomorrow. The children are at our heart at Staplegrove Church School and their voices are valued in our community. We hope that the children come to understand the key Christian values and apply them to how they live their lives.

Our school is united with the Staplegrove Benefice, sharing in a joint Christian Ethos, comprising of; our children, their families, staff, governors and the parish members of St. John’s the Evangelist Church. Our policies for Religious Education, Collective Worship and Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural ethics are discussed, agreed and reviewed through this joint group. This adds meaning to the Christian life of our school and the local parish.

Our policies are available at the bottom of this page.

Our Christian Values

Our Christian Values are at the forefront of all that we strive for in every child at Staplegrove Church School. Our Values are celebrated, lived and help to form our school's safe and nurturing environment where children can be the best version of themselves.

Our whole school community came together on a special journey; with the children at our hearts, every child, the wider community and our Church members, voted for their most favoured Christian Values that were felt to be the most integral in supporting our school’s vision and ethos.

Our school’s six core Christian values, help to guide us every day, support us through all that we may face, nurture a compassionate community of learners in the faith in God and his only son. Giving us hope each day.

Our School’s Six Core Christian Values:

Respect, Friendship, Truthfulness, Thankfulness, Courage and Perseverance.

Each of our school’s core Christian Values will provide our children with the foundations to grow and the opportunities to flourish in their journey through Staplegrove Church School and beyond.

With the children at our hearts, our Worship Champions confidently shared their personal thoughts about our core Christian values:

Each term our whole school community takes part in a Christian Values Day- focusing on one of our six, core Christian values.

The weekly theme of Collective Worship at Staplegrorve Church School, is led by our Christian values, world events, national awareness days and religious festivals.

Our Worship is linked to key parables from the Holy Bible - that support our children to make clear connections with the salvation, Gospel and teachings of Jesus Christ.

Staff and children discuss and reflect on our values during the term, and they take part in cross-curricular activities relating to these core values.

Our aim is that all children will be able to understand and demonstrate our core Christian values and link them to real life situations and put them into context.

Continuing to learn about and embedding our values into daily reflections and routines will ensure that we all understand how they help to make our school and our community a really positive place to be.
