Attendance
Our approach towards positive attendance habits
We have a target for your child's attendance of 97%. We are passionate about the positive impact upon your child's academic and social development of positive habits of school attendance.
We are proud that our whole-school attendance during the academic year 2024-25 was amongst the highest 10% of similar schools nationally. This was the result of a supportive and collaborative partnership between parents and carers and our school.
We reward positive habits of attendance through termly certificates for children achieving 97% or above and 100% attendance. We also award a weekly trophy for the class with the highest attendance and share fortnightly attendance data for each class in our newsletters.
Where we have concerns about attendance, we work with parents and carers to identify and break down barriers to positive habits of attendance. This includes letters for information and parental attendance support meetings.
Helpful information for parents
Please find below a general information leaflet shared with parents at the start of the academic year.
Also shared below is a document which shows the number of days' absence is equivalent to a range of attendance percentages. This information is shared along with your child's individual attendance 3 times a year - at our 2 parents' evenings and in our end of year report to parents.

Reporting an absence
If your child is ill, we ask that you inform the school office by phone. Please phone 01823 337 313 and select the appropriate option.
If your call is not answered, please leave an answerphone message.
We ask that a clear reason is given for the absence.
Please do not email the school to report an absence.
Medical appointments or absences
We ask that parents and carers make best endeavours to schedule appointments outside of the school day.
Please inform us of any appointments or medical absences which will impact your child's attendance.
As part of our attendance policy, we ask that proof of appointments are provided to the school.
Request for term-time absence
We recognise that there will be occasional exceptional circumstances where children will need to take term-time absences.
Please use the link below to request a term-time absence.
Please note that we are unable to authorise holidays unless they are for a very small number of exceptional circumstances.
